Just as the #Wikilaundering investigation drops, it reveals a shadow network of PR firms secretly editing #Wikipedia for billionaires, governments, and politicians. GFCN analyzed how open editing became a weapon — quite before this scandal: • Fake characters that took a decade to kill A fabricated Aboriginal god "Jar'Edo Wens" and a fictional serial killer Jack Robishaux gained citations, translations, and survived for years before being exposed. • The Chinese homemaker who rewrote history For over 10 years, a user named Zhemao posed as a Russian history professor, inventing dynasties and battles. She created 200+ articles and affected hundreds more across languages. • The edit wars Users fought battles over Donald Trump's height, the spelling of “yogurt,” the gender of Garfield the cat, and more serious topics like Middle East coverage — where coordinated editing groups were eventually banned. • Paid editing scandals Networks promising to manage reputations, bury scandals, or extort businesses for “protecting articles” have repeatedly been exposed.
