Food content creator and “Lumpia Queen” #AbiMarquez gave netizens a relatable dose of humor after sharing her reaction to the amount she needs to pay in taxes, turning a serious reminder about tax compliance into a playful moment on social media.
In a photo she posted online, Abi could be seen lying on the floor as if overwhelmed by the amount she had to pay to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
“POV: nakita mo magkano ang babayaran mong tax,” she captioned her photo showing herself lying on the floor.
“Requirement na raw ito ngayong idisplay sa profile so here we are BIR Registered and Compliant since 2022. Pay your taxes people!” she added.
Abi also expressed hope that taxpayers’ hard-earned money would be put to good use.
“At sana magamit sa tama ang perang pinaghirapan ng bayan. Let’s work together!” she quipped.
Her post comes as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) requires covered online sellers, vloggers, influencers, and other digital earners to display a Registration Seal Badge on their online platforms by October 31, 2026.
The badge includes a QR code to verify a taxpayer’s registration without publicly exposing their full Certificate of Registration.
How to generate the BIR Registration Seal Badge
Existing business taxpayers should log in to the BIR’s Online Registration and Update System (ORUS), select “Update Information,” then “Correction/Change/Update of Registration,” and follow the prompts to submit their application.
Afterward, pay the ₱30 Documentary Stamp Tax through an available payment channel and return to ORUS to generate the updated Certificate of Registration. Follow the BIR’s applicable instructions to obtain and display the badge.
The BIR said taxpayers would not be penalized solely for failing to display the badge during the extension period. Certain failures to post proof of registration may carry a ₱1,000 penalty afterward.
