At 11.40pm last night, a monster positive lightning bolt lit up the sky just East of Norman, Oklahoma.
And I was in Texas with my camera pointed above that storm, and captured the giant red sprite it produced.
March 3, 2026 blood moon lunar eclipse in San Francisco’s Tenderloin, a few minutes before totality. Sporadic clouds interfered with filming, but red color came through. Cloudy on Feb 28 Syzygy. Vids duplicate some comments, didn’t plan on posting both.

@radchickyo Grok estimated the largest of those Red Sprites to be ~25 miles tall, up in the mesosphere. Great location for filming. Wonder what it felt like on the ground in area under the lightning storm triggering them?

Roof in SF is so brightly lit tonight from the Frost supermoon that Tina came out to prowl around. Despite a bit of haze & the light from the still nearly-full moon one can see Jupiter directly below it. Aldebaran & many other stars also visible.

If John Wheeler was right, though, this very JWST image is interacting (retro)causally with that galaxy; observation affects the observed, even in the deep past. A future superintelligence may observe and thereby influence the Big Bang.
The Fukang meteorite is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Formed around the same time as Earth itself (~4.5 billion yrs ago), it’s unknown when it fell where it was found in mountains near Fukang, China. Olivine/peridot in metal matrix.

I thought I’d seen every shade of #aurora possible in the QT video. Red, green, blue,+. But this image from 5/11 in WA is taken looking directly into charged particle stream. Stack all those colors, you get bright white.

Another look at the full hall coronal mass ejection launched by yesterday's M9.8 solar flare. As expected, the plasma cloud is earth-directed and expected to arrive late on Friday, 1 December. Expect geomagnetic storm conditions after the cloud arrives.
