@AmericanForests @USClimate And while we are talking about #GCAS2018, can we all just take a moment and appreciate the #ActOnClimate #NaturalClimateSolutions provided by @JerryBrownGov and the State of California for so many years? WHEN we win on #climate, this will be a key reason why. #AskJad

@AmericanForests @USClimate But we also want to get right to #work delivering #NaturalClimateSolutions with #reforestation. We have pledged to plant 10 million trees in @USClimate states as part of #NWLChallengeAccepted. This will capture the emissions equivalent of burning 5 BILLION pounds of coal. #AskJad

@AmericanForests .@americanforests we have partnered with @USClimate to help these 17 states to make big plans to use #Forests4Climate. Part of our #NWLChallengeAccepted is to commit to much more of this technical assistance--whatever these states need 4 #NaturalClimateSolutions. #AskJad

@AmericanForests We see #GCAS2018 as a pivotal “now or never” moment to get #ActOnClimate back on track. One of our biggest problems with #climatechange in the US is that we are not talking about it enough! GCAS puts #Climate and #NaturalClimateSolutions front and center for our country. #AskJad

@AmericanForests @forestservice But let's be clear again about the scale of #Forests4Climate solutions: HUGE opportunity. U.S. forests already capture 15% of our carbon emissions right now in the US, and could capture 30% or more of our carbon emissions--but only if we make the right investments. #AskJad

@AmericanForests @forestservice One of the best things about #Forests4Climate is that this solution can be applied by anyone at any scale--from a homeowner to the federal government working across vast public lands. We really need to build #ActOnClimate momentum together, and this helps. #AskJad

@AmericanForests That means we have to take actions that keep forests healthy (like managing #wildfire so we get more regular "good fire" and avoid damaging #megafire) and increase the carbon capture in forests with actions like planting more trees. #AskJad

@AmericanForests Right now U.S. #forests and forest products capture and store about 15% of our carbon emissions annually. This makes me #ForestProud! But the science says that this could reverse to nothing, or could double in the future depending on what we do. #AskJad

@AmericanForests In the past our community divided up the #Forests4Climate issue between “mitigation” and “adaptation”. Now we realize they are just two sides of the same forest coin. If we help our forests #adapt to #climatechange they will sequester and store carbon emissions. #AskJad
