A presidential spokesperson must not act like a puppet or propagandist of the president. You must be honest, transparent, calm and charismatic. An effective spokeswoman should focus on policies, not personalities. Do not spend too much time mudslinging opponents rather than explaining policies, it will hurt public perception. Avoid personal attacks because it will further damage the administration's image. You can defend the president without raising your eyebrows and resorting to insults. If you have difficulty in answering, just stay silent by saying "No Comment' on the media's questions. Let the president's "hatchet men" handle the dirty job...otherwise, you will be mocked in social media, lose public trust and put pressure on you to resign or be replaced just like what happened to your predecessors.
