Spoke with Canadian FM @AnitaAnandMP and raised our concerns regarding a series of shooting attacks targeting synagogues in Toronto in the past few days.
I requested that, alongside efforts to apprehend the shooters, special measures be taken to increase security for the Jewish community and its institutions, as well as for Israeli diplomats serving in Canada.
We also discussed developments regarding the war with Iran. I praised Canada’s statement at the beginning of the war, which included an affirmation of Israel’s right to defend itself.

The West pushes a two-state ‘solution’ to cover up its original sin. Instead of addressing the root of Zionist settler colonialism, they’d rather Palestinians pay the price. If Europe felt guilty, it should have given land in Europe, not stolen it from Palestinians.
Today, Prime Minister was asked on where Canada stands when it comes to recognizing Palestinian statehood, as France just did, and as hundreds of UN recognized states have done, including Spain, Norway, and Ukraine.
For the record, here was his answer.
Canada must act now. It is impossible to stand for international human rights, to stand against illegal annexation, without acting to recognize Palestinian sovereignty and self-determination.

The sudden rush by some Western states to (belatedly) recognize Palestine is not about support for Palestinian self-determination. It’s about preserving Zionism through a symbolic “two-state solution”. But the struggle doesn’t end with a Palestinian Bantustan. It ends with the dismantling of apartheid, an end to settler-colonialism across the land of historic Palestine, and equal human rights from the river to the sea.
