@BenisonMrs I remember sustained silent reading (SSR) & drop everything and read (DEAR) from when my kids (now 20 & 24 yrs old) were in school. Fortunately I taught them to decode & they were good readers. But so many others weren't. Their school was a #balancedliteracy stronghold. ๐ช

@BenisonMrs True. I've seen this in Title I schools I've partnered with for research. Too many students need #intervention & not enough resources to provide for all. Many students are "watch and wait" b/c of that. Add to it that #schools used #balancedliteracy, which exacerbated the problem.
