This will extend the recently upgraded section from the leisure centre all the way to the “curly wurly” bridge.
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that the next phase of upgraded pedestrian and cycling infrastructure at the Black Paths Craigavon will commence on Monday 21 July.

🚵♀️ Work is progressing on the Stranmillis Embankment active travel scheme with the new red surfacing being laid today & tomorrow.
The embankment is down to one lane for traffic while the resurfacing is being carried out, so if travelling in the area be prepared for some minor delays.
Also, please adhere to the temporary traffic management in place for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins MLA has announced that work on the replacement Moylinn East bridge in Craigavon will commence on Tuesday 6 May.
Work will begin to prepare the ground and construct and strengthen the abutments in readiness for the new bridge structure being put in place later this summer.

The first refurbed section of the #BlackPaths has just opened. 2 cycle lanes segregated from pedestrians. Already seeing children travelling independently on the network… This is the standard that should be rolled out everywhere.

Work starts on one of the busiest, most badly maintained (there are many) parts of the network. Indicated on map in yellow. The £270,000 project lasts for 8 weeks. Access to network remains open.

The #BlackPaths has no signage to help residents/visitors navigate the network. Almost all original signage from 60s-70s is gone.
Some of the original waymarking still exists in remote areas. They should be saved, renovated & new signage created to match.

Infrastructure Minister John O’Dowd has launched a public consultation on the Active Travel Delivery Plan today. The plan sets out how the Department will prioritise and deliver over 200km of high quality active travel infrastructure in 42 urban and rural settlements across the north over the next 10 years.
Minister O'Dowd was joined by a number of guest speakers including Health Minister Nesbitt who welcomed the consultation and highlighted the physical and mental health benefits of active travel.

New plans to replace #MoylinnBridge on the #BlackPaths network have been released.

When extension to Rushmere, Craigavon was built it blocked access from #BlackPaths to shopping centre.
The solution was to bolt a new cycle lane to the side of the building - and extend around side to the door.
This is the solution for safe access over Albert Bridge, Belfast.
