Reminder that both the South East + the North of England are short of greenfield sites and high grade farmland without massive housing developments sprawling any further (blues and green bits) Red bits=urban. High grade farmland sites sadly cheapest to build on.
Just 900 houses were built on grade 1 farmland in the whole of England in the 10 years to 2008. Incredibly @sthelenscouncil is suggesting 1,140 should be built on grade 1 land in Rainford alone #peston #marr #bbcsp
