A green economic and social renewal, based on nature and climate resilience, is critical. And we need a thriving, capable conservation 3rd sector to help deliver it. Specific Government support urgently needed.
.@HMcG_DGNT @nationaltrust sets out the importance of a green renewal from the current crisis – delivering green growth, nature-rich green spaces & reducing carbon emissions. Conservation charities have a huge role to play but do need government support. https://t.co/iAOme9CAVs
Great to see @HMcG_DGNT & @CraigBennett3 on @BBCBreakfast highlighting the struggles the environment sector face in light of covid-19. Vital work to protect nature has been paused & closure of sites has hit finances hard. Read more about this here... https://t.co/4nMSQjlhcY

We need a renewal based on green growth and delivering nature for people near where they live, not just a high-tariff economic recovery. NHS, National Parks, Planning System: post-War triumphs of vision. Our version needs to be investment that delivers nature for public wellbeing
Important article from @HMcG_DGNT on nature, Coronavirus & what comes next.

I should imagine this is prompting some pretty fundamental boardroom discussions about future business models. Maybe time for more than just lip service about becoming energy demand and management companies?
And so it begins. Are we ready? Exxon drops from S&P 500 top 10 for first time ever. Experts note oil sector has gone from being the leader of the world economy to a laggard as investors bet on a post carbon world #oil#climate#cdnpoli#abpoli https://t.co/JkGB4DYozZ
As the Minister who halted #fracking in 2011, think it’s now clear shale gas has little prospect of succeeding in UK. Shale will not have public acceptance or deliver claimed benefits. Time to draw a line and focus on the many better options for future energy needs. @emilygosden
