Today is the last day of our 15-day robotic excavation durability demonstration for the NASA Break The Ice #BTIL lunar permafrost mining challenge!

The livestream is up now, but official start is at 10am Alaska time today (1.5 hours from this tweet).
We will run until the robot breaks permanently, 15 days pass, or we mine a total of 12,000 kilograms (stretch goal!).

One of the things I really like about this challenge is the spare parts and repair tools count against your robot mass, and they're important for a 15 day 12,000 kg demonstration!
I've been using these 3D printed two-part molds to test concrete samples while developing a lunar permafrost simulant for NASA's #BTIL Break The Ice lunar permafrost mining challenge.
It's wacky that just 10% frozen water will bind sand to several MPa compressive strength!
