Today, WED DEC 4: - Bill C-293 passed 2nd reading in the senate. There will be no further hearings. There was no committee. This is not on their website yet. Our Source: A senator. We spoke to them in October at their phone number listed on their web site. We left the senator messages Nov 22, and Nov 25 asking the status of the bill & committee. Today they returned our message and stated they had no voice mail messages until today when many suddenly came through including ours. They reported 2nd reading completed today and 3rd reading will happen early next week, maybe Thursday, Dec 5 (tomorrow). The senators signalled their intentions that they will pass this bill. 80 of the 105 senators were appointed by PM Trudeau. Oct 21 - Bill C-293 was introduced into 2nd reading. The sponsor of the bill Senator Megie refused to answer questions saying "I have no solutions", this will be discussed in committee. The Canadian public were robbed of their opportunity to have expert witnesses invited to address the senators in committee to inform them of the consequences of this bill. Instead, partisan politics in the Senate have circumvented parliamentary process, yet again.
