It's 2023 and #clightning still haven't developed a way for average users to backup their lightning node.

In #clightning, this is done by setting `allow-deprecated-apis=false`. We give min 6 months and 2 releases from the release with the Deprecated Changelog entry. So plugins etc can upgrade at their leisure. We also try to remove just after release, so master breaks early!
OK, so this is wrong, but let's talk about how mature JSON APIs work (e.g. #clightning, not bitcoin core).

The #LND bbolt database grows fast and needs regular, 30-60 mins downtimes to compact, SCBs available for disaster recovery
The #Clightning db grows slower, compacts on-the-fly and the backup plugin replicates it realtime.
It is time to try #Eclair too if looking for efficiency.
@ercwl @s_5Q2X8mgeGR No, that is specific to lnd. The acinq node, the largest in the network and operating since 2018, has a database < 500 MB (running eclair).

If running #Clightning on the #RaspiBlitz there is one command to run to prevent the SDcard filling up with the lightning database backup of a busy node:
lightning-cli backup-compact
(will have this done automatically in the background from the next release)
@satrinity402 @RaspiBlitz @ZeusLN One important tweak required especially when running #clightning with #CLBOSS (which means a lot of activity) is to compact the database backed up on the SDcard before it takes up too much space.
Simply run:
lightning-cli backup-compact
(no need to restart)
