California’s 2025 drops (vehicle theft -25.8%, robbery -19.9%, homicide -18.6%, property -14.3%, violent -10.2%) closely match major US cities: homicide -19 to -21%, robbery -20 to -23%, vehicle theft -27% (Major Cities Chiefs, Council on Criminal Justice). National vehicle thefts fell about 22% (NICB). The declines are widespread across the country.

RED FLAG IN CALIFORNIA. California's June 2 primary ballots are still being counted days later. Under state law, mail ballots postmarked by Election Day get processed for up to a week after. Officials verify every signature across 23 million voters. And handwritten dates on return envelopes are accepted as valid proof of timeliness. That's very concerning for chain of custody and real-time verification. Late ballots keep arriving and getting added while races tighten. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles is paying attention. Bill Essayli leads it. Federal monitors have been deployed to key counties before. President Trump publicly called out the delays in the governor and LA mayor races, suggesting the slow count invites questions. No widespread fraud confirmed yet, but the process itself raises serious suspicions. Here's the honest cut. States with strong Election Day in-person voting and same-day counts deliver fast, clear results. California's universal mail-in system prioritizes access over speed and security checks. The tradeoff becomes obvious when tight races like Steve Hilton versus Xavier Becerra drag on for days with ballots still pouring in. Voters are watching closely. This system breeds doubt by design. What one change would you push to restore trust and speed in California's elections?
