I used to write laws… then I invented Knee Defender. ex-HPSCI, ex-Senate tech, taxes, trade/FP, ethics, antitrust… crime & even reputed parliamentarian 🙃
@TomPolhaus Yes. And even when it was clear the trial wouldn't formally begin until after Biden started, they (appropriately) still took a few days here and there; no rushing.
Aside from whether impeaching Trump weekly would/wouldn't be a good idea, @fakedansavage's thread on how it would screw with the Senate is wrong.
For starters: No, the Constitution does not include a Senate Speedy Impeachment Trial Act provision. The Senate's…

So, I have a wild idea. Suppose the Democrats take the House but not the Senate in November. What's to stop the House from impeaching Donald Trump... not once, not twice... but once a week?
It is a lonely job being the USA ambassador to Denmark these days.
Previous USA ambassadors were treated like rock stars and were very popular in Denmark which has always been a very pro-American country. But that is over now.
The current ambassador, Ken Howery, @USAmbDenmark was sent to Denmark last year accompanied by a message from Trump that his job is to secure U.S. control over Greenland.
He keeps posting BS on social media about how he wants to deepen ties between Denmark and the USA. But you have to choose. You can't both try to take Greenland and have good relations with Denmark.
As a result, he is treated like the enemy that he is, and nobody wants to socialize with him.
A Danish newspaper recently spotted him going undercover as a Danish football fan at a carnival. He has to dress up and hide like this to be able to go out and be among the Danes.
@KeyserSozeThree@burgessev@CIA Yes, but the alternative to Ratcliffe at the time was for Grenell to remain as acting-DNI. Pulte may be Trump II's Grenell.

As some will recall (and you know who you are), when Trump announced in 2019 he'd be replacing his first DNI Dan Coates with then-Rep John Ratcliffe (R-TX), there was Senate pushback, and no nomination quickly ensued. Then a few months later, Trump made Grenell acting-DNI…

Construction of a retaining wall on a steep slope adjoining Jimmy Durante Boulevard just north of Camino Del Mar is taking longer than originally anticipated due to utility coordination requirements and challenging field conditions.

New Democrat Coalition Chair Brad Schneider on Lebanon war powers: “I don’t think it’s coming to the floor.”
Says U.S. troops in Lebanon are providing critical services including protecting embassies and supporting the LAF and “I’m not going to vote to take away those things.”
And, of course, "because of ongoing litigation" is just a variation on, "I'd like to, but my returns are still under audit." At least, unlike Bessent, Trump had the "decency" to lie and say, "I'd like to".
BESSENT: "I am unable to comment *because of ongoing litigation.*"
"ongoing litigation"? But the government's position is this has been settled. The only "litigation" ongoing is the judge ordering the gov't back into court b/c, like Lucy, it has some 'splaining to do.
@RonWyden
Sen. @RonWyden: Todd Blanche said that they're not moving forward with the slush fund, but there's been no indication of what this means for the Trump IRS audit immunity. Does the IRS audit immunity given to Trump still stand? I'd like a yes or no answer
Trump's Treasury Secretary: I am unable to comment.
After their phone call blowup, Netanyahu found the smallest of small crumbs to send to Trump as a... peace offering?
Iirc, someone once sent Trump a check for 16¢ to see if he'd deposit it, and he did. So maybe he'll take this crumb, too.
🔴 BREAKING: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says decisions about what kind of action will be taken regarding disarming Hamas would be made with the Board of Peace, which US President Donald Trump set up last year to oversee a phased ceasefire.
I started to get upgrades when I traveled a ton for work in 2014 and find the shaming of pols to be really stupid. Who benefits if a congressman is banging his knees in coach instead of working in First?
Sen Dan Sullivan's challenge running against another Dan Sullivan is now more clear to me.
Here's Alaska's primary ballot when Murkowski ran in 2022. Note the only identifier for each candidate is NAME and PARTY REGISTRATION.
So how WILL voters be able to know which is which?🤔
.@SenDanSullivan, R-Alaska, slams the other Dan Sullivan running in Alaska, calls it a Democratic ploy to elect Mary Peltola.
He's threatening legal action.
"People are laughing about it. It's not funny," Sullivan tells me. "His fundraising letterhead is a direct stealing of my campaign logo... That's a star, that's just a clear trademark.”
“But why would he do that same thing? His primary purpose is to confuse Alaskans... And think about it, if Alaskans are like, ‘I'm going to vote for Dan Sullivan,’ and they mistakenly vote for him, who benefits? Mary Peltola and the Democrats.”
HOUSE RULES will meet at 3:45 to report a same-day rule that would allow them to vote on the ICE/CBP reconciliation bill this week.
@LauraEWeiss16@bresreports me
I defied God and found a way to write about both Jill Biden's book and Platner.
It's all downstream from Clinton '98 and Trump '16. Character flaw? Junkie son? Well, how come *they* get grace from voters and not me

@MrsCassandraC@RoadMN I'm one of those millions who used to watch 60 Minutes every week, while now just occasionally, but that has nothing to do with whatever bias it may have. It's b/c I'm not as drawn to their stories, *and* b/c if I regret missing an original broadcast, I can find it online.
@fakedansavage Short answer: It wouldn't work that way.
How I know: I worked in the Senate, I know its rules, and I know how impeachment trials work.
Consider: If the Senate didn't follow the Constitution & its own impeachment rules, what's the remedy?
I'm not saying…
