18/10/25 Cumbria - The autumn grassland #fungi are now starting to show in good numbers; some of my favourite species at this site including Earthy Powercap (Cystoderma amianthinum), Ballerina Waxcap (Porpolomopsis calyptriformis) and the Violet Coral (Clavaria zollingeri) #chegd

21/9/25 Cumbria - More fabulous #fungi in the Lake District; another awesome Entoloma fungus and a rare one too; a close relative of E. bloxamii this is almost certainly E. madidum aka the Brightsky Pinkgill. Another lovely #chegd species

21/9/25 Cumbria - The #fungi season is starting to gather momentum after the recent rain. I was delighted to find a particularly rare grassland #fungus today, Entoloma bloxamii aka the Big Blue Pinkgill. I have only ever seen them in Cumbria #chegd

7/9/25 Lancashire - After a couple of cool mornings and some rain, the sight of the first #waxcap fungi is a welcome sight after a rather miserable summer. Ballerina #Waxcaps (Porpolompsis calyptriformis) are one of the rarer #chegd species, and a find that always makes my day!

Bowled over to find the absolutely beautiful Beige Coral, Clavulinopsis umbrinella today at my favourite cemetery. It’s the first time I’ve found it & the first time it’s been found here, so another very exciting addition for the #CHEGD list! 🥰 #fungifriday #fungi

More botanical surveys with peachy Steve today. It's been a pleasure surveying lots of sites with someone so knowledgeable about fungi and flora. Many sites we look at are not suitable for tree planting or only in limited areas due to existing priority habitats and #CHEGD fungi.

8/10/23 Cumbria - Another lovely #waxcap - that's also an easy one to identify - the Fibrous Waxcap (Hygrocybe intermedia), quite often a large and brightly-coloured fungus with a lovely rough surface and a thick texture. These two images are not the same fruiting body #chegd

Fibrous and Citrine waxcaps this morning. First visit this year and H.intermedia and H.citrinovirens take my recorded waxcaps to 16 species at this site. #CHEGD #fungi #waxcaps #grasslands

First waxcaps of the year and a new species for me. I think these are Hygrocybe acutoconica, the Persistent Waxcap. Growing around sand dunes on the wet and windy west coast of #anglesey. #fungi #chegd
