Each semester, a handful of communications students participate in our distracted driving awareness course. Some of those students provided feedback. Check out what a student had to say. "When we started texting while navigating the course, things turned bumpy quickly. I attempted the course twice. Both times I failed but in different ways. On my first try, I avoided hitting most of the cones but I drove too slow. At the halfway point of the course, Officer Potts repeatedly yelled, 'Go faster!' When I did go faster, I didn’t finish the text message because I was too concerned about hitting cones. I ended up typing 'I love csl." The student recalled, "On my second attempt, I pedaled to the metal and hoped for the best. Spoiler alert, it didn’t go well. While I finished faster, I flattened multiple cones as I started turning at the halfway point, and even one on the straightaway at the end of the course." Texting and driving, or being distracted, is incredibly dangerous. Each flattened cone could have been a real person.
