This week’s SPIN-POV: Post-LP CSF leaks are not uncommon in children. This child presented with a severe headache and MRI features of intracranial hypotension and was treated with targeted epidural blood patching. Using atraumatic pencil-point needles can reduce the risk.
And another CSF Leaker has died. Suffered for 5 years. Prior brain sagging, worsening after LPs. Treatment options: rejected, no options left - gone, hopefully to a better place.

This is a slide from his talk, showing a ventral PDPH case and what that looks like. You can see the puncture leak to the top right. Patient was able to get back to physical activity by 12 weeks, though that is not the case for all patients.

@WouterSchievink He also shared different types of dural defects found in cPDPH:
-arachnoid blebs—noted earlier;
-ventral dural leaks—👀
-basic defects—'just' a hole
-neomembrane—thin scar tissue covers the hole, but it's not sealed. Needs to be peeled back, then stitch/cover the leak.

@CSFLeakMatters @jenbrea Agree. Or chronic post dural puncture syndrome #cPDPH . Very Important. We are "many". The number of unreported cases is estimated to be high. The stories of those affected are often very dramatic. The impact on all areas of life is enormous.
