@BPSCyberPsych A2. It can be a benefit in some contexts. I don’t generally look at AI in terms of therapy but I have researched it for early signposting & providing a less intimidating way for ppl to take the first step towards seeking help. Lack of help seeking is a big issue #CyberSectionChat

@BPSCyberPsych Q3. Of course I do a lot of research into remote healthcare, so I can’t not give the example of tech being used as a facilitator to therapeutic relationships! #cybersectionchat
@BPSCyberPsych A3. I mentioned how tracking can be positive and negative in my answer to Q2. Other examples.. tech used to compliment your relationship (e.g., communication when apart) or tech used to the detriment (e.g., phubbing). It’s all context specific. #cybersectionchat
@BPSCyberPsych A2. Absolutely nuanced and context specific. Very few things in life are so black and white as to be wholly negative or positive. Tech is no exception and it’s all about how and why it is being used. #cybersectionchat
@leilaainge @BPSCyberPsych I imagine many others are also not sure of the term and how to differentiate this from general benefits of the digital space (of which of course there’ll be overlap). Is there an agreed definition in the field? #cybersectionchat
@BPSCyberPsych A2. Context specific, I think tech in relationships can magnify power imbalances, but it can also help manage /maintain boundaries #CyberSectionChat

@BPSCyberPsych Tricky qu. Do we fully understand what digital good looks like? I think for some contexts we do for others we are less sure. It’s maybe about using technology to facilitate, maintain, support and strengthen relationships rather than a tool for damaging them. #CyberSectionChat
