@Somewhataldente I know it! Argyle street. So the architect who created the panopticon design bowered panopticon from the Greek word ‘see everything’ / presumably some reference to the design of the hall where the audience might see everything?
@BPSCyberPsych Hi I’ve checked my inbox (and junk) but I’ve not had info yet. Double checked I had registration confirmation, who should I query with? Thx!
@Dr_Iain_Wilson@LJ_Rees@LTHEchat Timing of reflective assessment can be tricky for over thinkers, esp at the end of a year/co terminus with exams or a final project where self belief is needed in big doses. curious about opportunity to channel ‘thinking’ in constructive way through a structure like SMoR though.
@lazydazz I’ve got the EPIX, I had the garmin music (which I loved!) but it couldn’t hold battery time well and the charging clip kept breaking. The epix is great but I’ve just not read the manual, there’s more options around intervals etc which is nice!
@lazydazz 😂 phew… I’ve just done my prompt run for today, I had to keep my Hr under 148 for 47mins … harder than it sounded.. and it scored me 91% … what’s the score for? Did I get points off for going to 150bpm for a moment? 😬😂🤣
@lazydazz I got a new watch (haven’t read the manual) and I’m confused by the prompts, does it mean run 11:30 miles or run 11:30 min miles for 1hr 16? 😬
@BPSCyberPsych A3. Online communities for entrepreneurs help folk build relationships, but there are power imbalances that are not always obvious, online spaces can look like a ‘level playing field’ but can also leave members feeling suspicious about others (competitor) intentions.
@BPSCyberPsych A2. Context specific, I think tech in relationships can magnify power imbalances, but it can also help manage /maintain boundaries #CyberSectionChat
@BPSCyberPsych A6. The biggest finding from my research is that having access to disclosures from other business owners can lead to helpful comparisons - and reduce imposter experiences. We can see similar with phd students sharing reality with peer groups.
@BPSCyberPsych Absolutely, when you compare like for like, LinkedIn has fewer affordances for privacy than Instagram - strange considering it’s a professional platform.
@BPSCyberPsych A5. Use research to support platform development. Education feels important, adoption is the ‘norm’ for using online spaces - we don’t read a manual, but we follow and learn from peers - modelling good behaviour is important too.
@BPSCyberPsych A4. I think it’s constantly shifting, chat rooms offered anonymity, Facebook wanted us to use real names/ and now we have platform variations. I also think the extension of our offline friendships into some of these spaces changes our disinhibition. Cont:.
@BPSCyberPsych Yes, it feels like an extension of how we apply psych safety to workplace. Interestingly LinkedIn came up as a space in interview where there is less control over who can see/comment/judge - closed Fb groups with leadership felt safer to share.
@BPSCyberPsych Some online spaces have formed norms that the group place a high value on, for example being non judgemental, having policies around inclusion - women in these spaces ‘spoke up’ more because there was a sense of safety.
