#DomesticAbuseBill Much can be celebrated but,
#DAB22 effectively now criminalises and excludes migrant women and Mums of #DAB55 and denies them support, Refuge, Housing and access to public funds!
Yet their children could receive support under #DAB23?🤷🏻♀️
MPs have voted against New Clause 23, by 338 votes to 200.
#DomesticAbuseBill
New Clause 23 related to the provision of specialist support and services to all persons affected by domestic abuse.
📣 #NewClauses 15 16 17 18 & 20 incl in #DABill. Amendments recognise children as victims; ban cross-examination, deliver special measures in family & civil courts & end rough-sex defence. The vote against NC22 = ZERO protection for migrant & #DAB55 victims🤷🏻♀️

The ultimate test of the #DomesticAbuseBill is hailed to protect all women and children is back in Parliament today. Survivors and children of Domestic and Transnational Sham Marriage are looking to Government to protect their human rights
#NewClause #DAB55
Govt have deliberately chosen to blur Abuse definitions which dangerously reduces Forced & Sham Marriage to being treated as Immigration offence-exacerbating risk. I urge caution in allowing coterminous or interchangeable use of terms https://t.co/Bk7dY5EGwE
Wonderful news but not for #DAB55 children of Sham Marriage. It appears they don’t fit category for protections
Pls cld someone explain where can they go for help when their mothers are turned away?

Last night, the government confirmed that the Domestic Abuse Bill will be amended so that children affected by domestic abuse will be recognised as victims in their own right.
This is huge. Here's how it will help protect and support vulnerable children:

Pls could someone tell me where they can go for help when their mums are turned away & UKVI wishes to criminalise them?

Children do not only ‘witness’ abuse, they experience it as this video so powerfully shows.
Today the govt has committed to recognise children as victims in the #DABill. We have campaigned with @actnforchildren and many others in VAWG & children’s sectors to achieve this change.
@MiniSmall12 @Tranzform TY♥️ Feels isolating at times when seemingly there’s lack of interest in DA human rights violations. Govt set to lump all new emerging DA crimes into one def., and charge as immigration crime😳 I’ll pass on your words of support and hope to #DAB55 survivors💜
Thank you for you support from the #DAB55 survivors and their children 🙏🏼 @mschin01 @helen_janes3 @_DipikaR @Hopetraining
#DAB55 Survivors children of Sham Marriage are predominantly mixed race. But it appears they don’t fit any category for protections
Please could someone tell me where can they go for protection and support when their white Mothers are turned away? 🤷🏻♀️
There’s a long way to go before this Domestic Abuse Bill is finished. We’ve got to keep victims at the heart of every decision we make about what goes into this new law. We’ve got to keep listening to what survivors like this young person are saying to MPs. Please watch & share:
#DAB55 is work in progress - evidence to collate pending self financed study, etc. I feel Rachel @Dontlookback198 and Jess @jessphillips would agree that an email notification could have been set-up offering a schedule, additional requirements and deadlines ?
Domestic and Transnational Sham Marriage has reached the Commitee stage of the Domestic Abuse Bill, #DAB55 scheduled 25th June. I trust it’s concluding report values the need for accuracy and definition ahead of survey and campaigns https://t.co/Bk7dY5EGwE
