This assault happened yesterday near the corner of Post and Kearny in downtown San Francisco. Do you know what else is on this EXACT same corner at Post and Kearny? The huge multi floor Charles Schwab office that they closed late last year. On the other corner across the street? An Amazon Go store that they ALSO shut down. Also last year near this EXACT same corner some crazy guy named Melvin Bulauan hit some guy so hard he knocked him out and sent him to the hospital with blood all over the sidewalk. This happened, yep, you guessed it, right outside of Jeffrey’s Toys, the oldest toy store in San Francisco which ALSO closed a few months ago… after being open for 86 years (!!!) Of course the Crocker Galleria less than half a block away sits completely empty and the Banana Republic flagship store, Athletica, Walgreens, and not one but TWO 7-Elevens, all closed down, all within a block of here. The drug/crime apologists will tell you everything is just FINE in San Francisco. Crime is DOWN they claim as they try to gaslight you. Yet all the ground level businesses (especially around this particular corner) are closing up shop. Nobody wants drug addicts or mentally ill people walking into a ground floor business and creating a huge problem. Customers and commuters don’t want to shop in San Francisco because they don’t feel safe. It’s the randomness of it all more than anything. You just don’t know when some totally random person is just going to haul off and sucker punch you for no reason at all. It creates this ugly tension where everybody is always on edge and always has to be on guard. This isn’t how we should have to live. The mentally ill belong in hospitals. The drug addicts belong in mandatory treatment. London Breed can try to pass as many bonds as she wants, but until San Francisco addresses the ground level crazies and addicts, stores in San Francisco are going to keep shutting down. Stop paying them to come move to San Francisco, stop giving them free tin foil and pipes to smoke fenty, stop letting them break the law and get high and fold over wherever they damn well feel like it. We need a new mayor and we need a new police chief. “Melvin Bu­lauan, 42, “skipped” to­wards the com­muter walk­ing at the junc­tion of Kearny and Post Streets and punched him with such force as to leave pools of blood on the side­walk and the vic­tim in hos­pi­tal un­der­go­ing surgery.    “No one feels safe com­ing back to work down­town or rid­ing BART,” the vic­tim said in a state­ment read to the court. “All ef­forts to bring peo­ple back to the of­fice have been shot” as a con­se­quence of the July at­tack, he said.”
