So a stay-put evacuation policy is no good, everyone should evacuate the building...
Unless they are disabled
Then they should stay put & await rescue
Because disabled people 'cost too much' to evacuate,
& might hold up able-bodied people trying to evacuate
#DisabilityEthics
The Home Office will not require owners of high rise buildings to prepare evacuation plans, or make arrangements for disabled residents to escape, abandoning a core recommendation of the Grenfell Inquiry weeks before the fifth anniversary of the fire

@netshrink @nandiniriyer @bangalorelion @rkmjs1 @RoopGursahani @AnantBhan @dhvanimmehta @RajaniSurendarB @AkshatAg18 I have written about disability non-discrimination in triage protocols & the problem to execute AD amidst three judicial bodies in my upcoming article ‘#DisabilityEthics in the #CoronaCrisis’
@UngenderTalks @saysnidhigoyal @nipunmalhotra @Singhpreeti_17 @IamShamsAalam A4 #DisabilityEthics grant PwD right to #autonomy ie., to make life decisions; appoint someone to make decisions when the person cannot make their own decisions; be in consensual sexual relationships in alignment with their sexual orientation; express their gender identity #CRPD
And that’s why the need for #DisabilityEthics. So true @PhilosopherCrip! Disability ethics can reshape medical futility decisions to eliminate biases & uphold social justice.
@CraigKlugman @vgkoch

A5: Use of subjective Quality-of-life standards in triage decision making. Discrimination in #MedicalRationing because of biases & stereotypes towards disability. #DisabilityC19 #DisabilityEthics
We're about half way through the Twitter Chat now!
