I was a 'spontaneous responder' when I was in grade 11 at my high school when a student shot up the classroom next to mine. Have seen people step up in the #disastergap many times. It's something we need to recognize & support people to provide improvised care.
6 years on from this paper in @JSOMonline and many similar ones, and not much has changed... if we want to close the therapeutic vacuum and the #DisasterGap, we need to train and equip the #SpontaneousResponder

We recognize the importance of bystander CPR/AED for OHCA. Why do we have so much difficulty applying the same concepts to trauma?
