@Manos69188358 @skomer_island @SkokholmIsland Great job! Interesting how the model from one island is successful in predicting breeding locations in another! Do you think this is because orography and wind patterns is similar in both? Or is this generalisable independent of env. conditions? #WSTC7 #DistSesh3

4/4 #WSTC7 #DistSesh3 CFD can be used to model conditions in colonies & how these change with wind direction. While the relationship between airflows & site selection is likely species specific false presences can indicate suitable habitat for reintroduction of declining species

2/4 #WSTC7 #DistSesh3 We used CFD to estimate wind strength, turbulence & pressure around @skomer_island. Guillemot colonies occurred in leeward sites, highlighting the role of shelter from prevailing winds & storms in habitat selection #seabirds #teamAuk
