After a difficult spell culminating in some time off, made a tentative return to work this morning. It was physically, emotionally and cognitively more demanding than I’d anticipated but I think still a success. #DocsWithDepression #ThirdTrimesterIsKnackering #YesIAmPregnantShhh

Enormously fortunate to have a pragmatic @NHS_Lothian psychiatrist and midwife, and for my referral to have #CBT having been triaged up because of my pregnancy. #DocsWithDepression

The damage to mum and baby of untreated perinatal mental illness must not be underestimated. Treatment with meds and psychotherapy can hugely diminish that risk and important that any risks of meds are weighed against the risks of NOT treating , which may be worse. #gpspotlight2

2/2 This is immensely frustrating but I can see that it is also the first step to being able self- challenge my negative beliefs. Essentially it’s sort of ‘Evidence-Based Thinking and Feeling’. Need to be more skeptic! Optimistic. #DocsWithDepression

Tomorrow sees me do my first night shift in eight months, after being off sick (I’ll be supernumerary). Fortunate to get to see Helen McKenna speak at #SICS18 this year; just read over my notes in preparation. Now for bed and a long lie tomorrow. #docswithdepression

Struggling with #nightshift? Us too. The fantastic Helen McKenna and I have tried to summarise ways to make #shiftwork and #sleep easier as individuals in this week's @bmj_latest: https://t.co/Ku7MamjSu4. @RCoANews @gmcuk @RCObsGyn @RCollEM @TheBMA @ClinicalHF @RCPEdin @RCSEd

After 30 weeks of sick leave and phased return, I did my first on call/12h shift tonight since May, covering last minute sick leave. I felt well supported, I felt appreciated, and I feel like I did a good job. Thanks to those who’ve helped me get back to here. #docswithdepression
