EMERGENCY RATE CUT: The #FederalReserve is facing increasing pressure to implement an #emergencyratecut, with market-implied odds of such an action falling to 7%, according to Kalshi. Wharton's Professor #JeremySiegel has called for a 75 basis point #emergencycut by the #Fed, with another 75 basis point cut indicated for next month at the #Septembermeeting. However, opinions are divided, with some arguing that an emergency cut could exacerbate the unwinding of the #JapaneseYencarrytrade and worsen the economic situation. Others believe that the Fed should wait until the scheduled #SeptemberFOMCmeetingto make any #rateadjustments, while some suggest that a #ratecut is inevitable given the current economic conditions. The Fed has not indicated any plans for an emergency cut, and some officials have expressed openness to #ratecuts in future meetings.

#macro Everyone under the age of 35 needs to stop with the #emergencycut calls. It's not the internet bubble, it's not LTCM (yet), it's not COVID. It's stairs up on a carry trade, and elevator down on unwind. When the last one is unwound, we go on our merry way.
