I always ask 2 questions on my exams: 1. What is best part of this class? 2. What would make it better? This student had the best answers! #whyiteach

Fantastic article about "ungrading" at the college level. Learning should be about growth and feedback not compliance. #ungraded #feedbacknotgrades

“I no longer grade my students’ work — and I wish I had stopped sooner.” In this essay for #URichmond magazine, English professor Elisabeth Gruner talks about why, after 30 years of teaching, she’s embracing the idea of “ungrading.” https://t.co/4v75qpDbGl

#FeedbackNotGrades Pushing the use of formative assessment and feedback as opposed to giving student grades led this student to go back to their work in green pen to correct themselves. #StudentAgency #FormativeAssessment #WeRGIS

You know how people throw out great teaching theory but never seem to explain how it works in the classroom? This post about using feedback instead of grades to drive instruction is the exact opposite of that. #teachertwitter #relevantlearning #feedbacknotgrades

Feel like there still needs to be a place for work ethic/behavior? Make that SEPARATE. My school has each teacher rate kids on “citizenship” and “effort” using a 1-4 scale. Send that to colleges along w/ the skills breakdown. GPA doesn’t mean 💩. /endrant #feedbacknotgrades #sbg

Teachers will be like, "Standards-based grading is too complicated." Then their syllabus is like, "Quizzes are 10%, HW 20%, tests 50%, with up to 10 pts. extra credit, and one pass to forgive a late score but only on every other Tuesday if you turn it in with your left hand."

Feedback in the form of formal letters. Yr12 loved receiving their personal post today after their end of year assessment! Looking forward to their responses. #feedback #UKedchat #feedbacknotgrades @BISBudapest
