The FDC is one of the pieces that makes Flare fundamentally different.
It lets smart contracts verify what happened outside Flare.
A payment on XRP, or other chains. Data returned by a Web2 API. A transaction on another supported chain.
You submit an attestation request, Flare’s data providers independently verify the underlying event, and the resulting proof can be consumed by a smart contract.
External data can become an input to onchain logic without trusting the user who supplied it.
This is what enables things like FAssets, Flare Smart Accounts and cross-chain applications built around verifiable events rather than traditional bridges alone.

🚨 #FlareNetwork is positioning $XRP as productive onchain collateral 🚀
Hugo argues that Flare has been one of the main networks pushing XRP beyond simply being held or traded, and into lending markets where it can actually be put to work.
The opportunity is significant:
XRP is one of the largest crypto assets in the world, yet compared with $ETH, (wrapped) $BTC and stablecoins, its use in onchain lending remains relatively undeveloped.
Flare is trying to change that.
With FXRP, RLUSD and institutionally curated lending markets, idle XRP can become collateral that users borrow against, opening the door to deeper liquidity, larger markets and eventually institutional participants such as exchanges.
Those institutions probably won’t arrive overnight. They’ll want to see liquidity, utilization and risk parameters proven first.
But if Flare can demonstrate that these markets work at scale, XRP suddenly becomes useful to a much broader group of investors.
More utility → more productive XRP → potentially a much larger market.
