“Justice delayed is justice denied.” Day 42! For the past 42 days, we, the families of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders and the relatives of forcibly disappeared persons have been protesting in Islamabad. We have been deprived of our fundamental human rights: the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech. During these days not a single government official has approached us for a productive dialogue. Instead, a campaign of disinformation is being spread falsely portraying that BYC and the protesters reject or oppose dialogue. Let it be clear, the case against Dr. Mahrang Baloch and the BYC leaders is completely political. Yet, they are being painted as “terrorists” and treated as “criminals”. The Baloch nation has always resisted state violence against innocent Baloch people and Dr. Mahrang Baloch has exposed State violence and keep exposing it who has become the voice of the oppressed. Her unlawful detention is nothing but an attempt to silence that voice.
