โ During the four years of implementing the #GenerationGender project, Iganga Municipal Council, with support from CEHURD, has made remarkable progress in addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Awareness was raised through radio talk shows, while Community Health Advocates (CHAs) served as foot soldiers in identifying, managing, and preventing GBV cases by sharing information and educational materials. Duty bearers including probation officers, health workers, religious and cultural leaders, and local leaders, received capacity-building training, alongside Local Council Courts and secretaries for women affairs (Nabbakyala). A GBV Coordination Committee was formed to unite key actors, and CEHURD supported both DCC meetings and community courts, creating platforms for police, state attorneys, magistrates, and the community to engage and clarify case management processes. Furthermore, strong social networks among duty bearers and duty holders were established, fostering collaboration and sustained action against GBV.
In conclusion, Iganga Municipal Council is proud to have partnered with CEHURD, achieving the milestones outlined above. We deeply appreciate the financial, logistical, and technical support provided throughout the #GenerationGender project, as well as the cordial and professional working relationship. CEHURD has been a wonderful team, and we look forward to future opportunities to work together again.โ

In Busoga, teenage pregnancies and gender-based violence remain serious concerns, fueled by poverty and cultural norms. The #GenerationGender project created strong partnerships among community, cultural, religious, and district leadersโlaying a foundation for sustained action.
โ In the Busoga region, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and teenage pregnancies remain pressing challenges, largely driven by economic hardships and deeply entrenched social norms.
Through the #GenerationGender project, an invaluable platform for partnership was created between communities, local leadership, religious leaders, cultural leaders, and district authorities. This partnership stands out as the most tangible and lasting outcome of the initiative, as it has strengthened coordination, fostered collective action, and built shared responsibility in addressing SGBV and teenage pregnancies.
Although the project has come to a close, the commitment to safeguarding the rights and futures of young people must continue. The partnerships and structures established provided a strong foundation for sustaining this work, keeping the momentum alive, ensuring policies are implemented, and supporting community-driven initiatives for lasting impact .โ
