Last Friday I launched my little #GetYourselfBack project. I had had an epiphany that my younger, adventurous, creative, playful self had gone into hiding after a series of hard knocks over the years (not to mention the pandemic). I am actively, intentionally going to get her BACK. So many people across my social media accounts told me they want to reclaim their lost selves too! This week's inspiration: Last Saturday, I hung out with a friend who is in her late sixties and she shared this marvelous story. She recently traveled to visit some family members who live far away. When she arrived, they were delayed, so she had a few hours to herself. She drove to a local attraction she'd heard about and walked up, up, up, to the beautiful ocean viewpoint. On the way, she heard occasional cries and screams of glee but didn't know where they were coming from. When she got to the top, she got her answer. A large slide, that twisted and turned all the way back to the bottom. "Nah," she said to herself at first. But then she saw a man emerge from the bottom of the slide after a few kids popped out. "Give me that," she said to the attendant, who handed her a small mat to ride on. And she did it, whooping the whole way down. Not breaking a thing, thankfully. This. No one she knew witnessed it. There was no one to impress. She did it for herself. Just because. When was the last time you did something so whimsical? What did you do? I need to look for something 😊
