Oh Lebanon, Enough! When Will the Phoenix Rise from Its Ashes?
A #roadmap_for_the_ideal_future_Lebanon
May this vision serve as a #guiding_light, illuminating our path to #salvation_and_resurgence.
Introduction: Specters of the Past Burden the Present… A Dawn's Dream Awaits
Lebanon. Three syllables that encapsulate a thousand tales: a nation teetering on the precipice, consumed by corruption, torn by division, and forcing its children to flee in search of hope, dignity, and a life truly befitting them. This is no mere fleeting crisis; it is an existential ordeal striking at the very core of the Lebanese entity, a grim legacy born from archaic systems of sectarian power-sharing and patronage that have mortally wounded the very idea of statehood and citizenship. From the "National Pact," which partitioned the homeland into sectarian fiefdoms, to the "Taif Agreement," which cemented this fragmentation rather than ending it, the custodians of the old order have learned no lessons. The people have paid, and continue to pay, the exorbitant price.
Abject poverty has become a grim reality, the once-vibrant middle class a distant memory, and the brain drain of Lebanon's brightest minds and most capable talents has tragically accelerated, as if the very soil of the nation is expelling its finest and most innovative children. A paralyzed judiciary applies the law only to the weak, a collapsed economy produces nothing to sustain its people, and essential services are so dilapidated they strip citizens of their dignity. Meanwhile, the political elite, indifferent to the magnitude of the tragedy, cling to the last threads of their decaying authority over the ruins of a dying nation, utterly heedless of the fate of future generations.
Yet, despair is not destiny, and the Lebanon we dream of is no impossible mirage! It is the homeland of every fervent citizen, a nation of justice, transparency, and productivity, where sovereignty rests with the people, not with a sect or a chieftain, and where every individual lives with dignity and freedom. We yearn for a nation where every citizen can proudly proclaim, with honor and self-respect: "I am Lebanese!"
How do we build this nation? How do we transform Lebanon into a strong, just, productive, and prosperous state? This is the question that carries the hope of every Lebanese, and this is what we will meticulously endeavor to answer in this comprehensive article, which presents a roadmap for the ideal future Lebanon. This treatise will be divided into six principal sections, each meticulously analyzing a specific challenge and proposing detailed solutions. We will then examine the potential utility of past reform endeavors, assess the internal hurdles and strategies to overcome them, and finally, address the gravest challenge: the pervasive foreign interference. May this vision serve as a guiding light, illuminating our path to salvation and resurgence.

In 2000 on Guiding Light, the Lemay’s Christmas tree caught fire. Beth, @beth_chamberlin, Susan @BrittanySnowBS and Lizzie @EmmeRylan were safe, and Jim saved baby James, but sadly couldn’t escape the fire himself. #Guiding_Light #MerryChristmas
In 1999, Blake @lizkeifer had been hiding her pregnancy from Ross (Jerry verDorn) on Guiding Light by going into seclusion in a cabin. Luckily he figured out the truth in time and was able to help safely deliver their baby girl on Christmas Day #Guiding_Light #MerryChristmas
