While I was leading a bird walk today, a participant said to me, "You know what bird I really can't stand? Great Black-backed Gulls." And I drew back my flannel, Superman style, to reveal my #gullsofappledore shirt and said, "Those are my good friends you're talking about."

We called off our July #gullsofappledore banding activities. Several sick and dead gulls with signs consistent with avian flu. We do not want to bring more disturbance and stress into such a disturbed, stressed colony. I am so sad for my gull cousins. Please send them good vibes.
