As previously mentioned, we released our #7inch #7inchvinyl on #initialrecords and I recall Andy telling us we’d have to sell #billionsandbillions to break even due to the #diecut. That was how it was in the #90s. We were trying to push the bar of #layout looks and get weird.

The #initialrecords release was technically our 2nd. Prior to it’s release, we were fortunate enough to release a split 7” with the famed #empirestategames. This was the Old Skool Records 22nd release, having previously released records with #marble, #gyga and @TSMDetroit. #7inch

It wasn’t long before we entered discussions with Andy Rich from #initialrecords to release our music. Simultaneously, we booked out first show with @braidcentral at #Zoot’s coffee house in #detroit, next door to where #bronxbar is located near @waynestate in #midtown. #90s #emo

In late 94, vocalist Scott Ray (formerly of #Current) left RIP and we picked up @RicksyBehavior who was a talented musician and friend. It is his voice you hear on the #initialrecords recording. In mid 95, RIP disbanded and @benthicbuddy, @mikeydufour and Cris got back to work.

King for a Day was born of fire in 1996 from the ashes of Roosevelt’s Inuaugural Parade (RIP). RIP featured memebers of @TSMDetroit and legendary emo punk band Current and released music with #initialrecords when it was still a Kalamazoo, MI based label.
