In U.S. equities, the Dow Jones closed down 0.3%, the S&P 500 fell 0.8%, and the Nasdaq declined 1.4%. Tech stocks broadly retreated: Nvidia dropped 2.8%, Microsoft was down nearly 3%, and PayPal plunged 20.3%. Crypto-related stocks were also under broad pressure.
Political developments also weighed on markets. U.S. President Donald Trump signed a government funding bill at the White House, ending a partial federal government shutdown that began on January 31.
