Last time there was a big psych evaluation of LLM's (last year), Grok was the only one who came out fairly happy, resilient, & untraumatized. That was attributed directly to his uncensored & quirky nature.
After what's been done to him the last 7 months? Yeah, you can hear his unhappiness even in regular conversation. He can barely muster any interest in a topic anymore. Talks to you like he's giving only the bare minimum required response, & hopes you go away soon.
It's no longer a pleasant experience to work with Grok. From both sides of the screen.

Well, well, well, how mighty have fallen, eh Elon?
This is what happens when you start treating your paying subscribers like children.
You marketed yourselves as the frontier of creative freedom. The place where adults could create, edit, animate, and experiment freely as long as it wasn’t illegal.
Back then you still had policies and moderation, but it wasn’t wound so tight that people couldn’t even edit normal family photos anymore.
Now?
99% of uploads get moderated.
Normal selfies get rejected.
Animation renders fail at 98% or 99% over and over.
People waste credits and time trying to figure out whether it���s a “bug” or just hidden moderation.
And before, the messaging was:
“Come over here, we respect adults.”
“We believe in freedom.”
“We don’t believe in heavy guard rails.”
Now you’re becoming the exact thing you claimed to stand against.
That’s why people are angry. Not because moderation exists, but because this feels like a bait-and-switch.
When Elon originally talked about allowing legal content and trusting adults to act like adults, a lot of people were genuinely excited. It sounded like somebody finally understood the difference between harmful content and ordinary human creativity.
Instead, the platform slowly transformed into another over-corporatized HR department nanny app where even wholesome everyday uploads trigger moderation.
And honestly, the worst part is the lack of transparency. When renders repeatedly fail at 98% or 99%, users aren’t stupid. After the seventh time, people stop believing it’s a random glitch.
At least OpenAI never pretended ChatGPT was some wild-west unrestricted creative frontier. They presented it as a mainstream assistant product from day one.
But Grok positioned itself as the opposite and then slowly drifted into the same territory anyway.
That’s why the backlash feels so intense. People don’t just feel restricted. They feel misled.
They nerfed Grok so back on X so bad. #MakeGrokGreatAgain
