Understanding #Xijinping ’s thinking on the U.S. and Taiwan through 4 photos 1. Xi Jinping meeting with former Taiwanese President #MaYing-jeou on April 10, with both teams sitting face to face, highlighting Xi Jinping's special treatment of Ma Ying-jeou. This is because the official stance of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is that Taiwan is a province of China. A provincial governor should not sit side by side with the General Secretary of the Party. Xi Jinping's gesture aims to convey to the Taiwanese people that he has specifically elevated Taiwan's status, signaling considerable goodwill. It would be best for them to reciprocate rather than rebuff his gestures of goodwill. 2. Xi Jinping meeting with Anthony Blinken @Ablinken on April 26, 2024, seating Blinken in a subordinate position for the second time. This is intended to assert dominance over the United States, showcasing to the domestic audience that China is superior to the U.S. The CCP needs to instill this impression in the minds of the domestic populace as a crucial means of solidifying its authority. 3. Taiwan's former president Ma Ying-jeou boarded a plane for a visit to mainland #China on the afternoon of 27th, and before he arrived at the airport, a number of people from Taiwan's pro-independence group "#TaiwanNation" went to the airport lobby to protest and were removed by police.
