Wow, didn't know the story behind how so much material for the S Wales mines came to be preserved - chance, but hard work of Hywel Francis and others of his generation scooping up material as mines closed. Thank goodness ... but also: how much was lost elsewhere?

#MiningTheSeams Fascinating work by project assistant Danielle Burton to construct many biographies for individual miners. These life stories really showcase the richness of the NCB archive. End result greater than the sum of its parts. Would love to learn more!
