The cost of unlimited travel across Victoria remains one of the cheapest in the world, but an affordable PT system is only useful if it is frequent and reliable, otherwise, people will opt for other modes

In 1991, some 33 years ago, it cost $4.20 full fare to travel across the metro network unrestricted for 3 hours.
The RBA inflation calculator puts that at $9.52 in today’s terms.
However, right now it costs $5.30 for two hours (yes, one hour less), or $10.60 for the entire day.
When are those G class trams due? I catch the 57 tram nearly every day, and >90% of the time it's standing room only.
10-30 am August 10 2023 . Bourke street Mall Melbourne.
When in Croydon it would be rude not to. Can’t remember the last time I’ve been on London’s only “Tram” system. Being a north Londoner, I don’t get many reasons to use it 😳 🚋 💚 #Tram #MoreTramsPlease #TramLife #TravelbyTram
I’ve often had these issues after 8pm in the CBD. We need better than a 20 minute frequency on popular routes (inc #96 to St Kilda), especially on a Friday evening

@yarratrams @MelbPTUser @danielbowen @DanielAndrewsMP Need for more frequent trams all hours. Tram 86 10:30pm bourke st.
Apartments everywhere at Highpoint, yet route 82 stuck in the 1950s with a single high floor tram trundling past every 20 minutes.
Really cool to see the trams running again in central #Sydney
Can we have them back in the rest of town? #moretramsplease
So this is a route 19 tram out of the city at 11pm. I think we can manage more than one tram every 20 minutes on this line in the evenings, don’t you? #MoreTramsPlease
7pm on a Monday. #MoreTramsPlease
@karlsmith86 @yarratrams @fakeyarratrams And for anyone tempted to say the problem is ‘too many passengers’....that’s not the way grown-up cities are meant to work. #MoreTramsPlease
30 years ago, running trams every 20 minutes on Friday evenings was just a sad joke. Today, it’s inflicting needless misery. #MoreTramsPlease
Midday in Bourke Street. Care to guess why your tram is so crowded? #MoreTramsPlease
The Victorian Government really needs to stop passing the buck and apply to public transport the same public-spirited approach it has with renewable energy. #MoreTrainsPlease #MoreTramsPlease #MoreBusesPlease
Love dealing with a transport system where my options for getting to things on Sunday mornings are be 35 minutes early or be late (and that’s if no trains get cancelled). The Victorian government really needs to hold Metro trains accountable for providing a quality service
And haven’t we tram users felt it. #MoreTramsPlease
This has become normal for trams out of the city between 5pm & 6:30. Full after three stops and turning people away because there are only half as many trams running as should be. And most are travelling outside the free zone. #MoreTramsPlease
Sunday morning, most trams still only every 20 minutes until 9:30ish. I caught this one at 9am. #MoreTramsPlease
