Adani Group unit removed from #Norway's wealth fund over corruption concerns
Adani Green Energy, which is the subject of a US corruption probe, has been removed from the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund due to concerns about its alleged links to #Financial Crime.

Norway’s $2 trillion wealth fund, Norges Bank Investment Management, said Adani Green Energy, one of the largest renewable energy companies in India, had been excluded due to concerns about “gross corruption or other serious financial crime.”
Once a company is excluded from the fund, its shares are sold and the fund won’t invest in it again until the exclusion is lifted. No other details of the exclusion were available and a spokesperson for the fund declined to comment.
Norges Bank Investment Management held a 0.23 percent stake in Adani Green Energy worth $43.9 million in the first half of 2025, its website showed.
Adani Group didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Adani Green is at the center of a US probe into allegations of corruption in an Indian renewables program. The US Department of Justice indicted Adani founder Gautam Adani and his nephew, #SagarAdani, a member of the board, on fraud charges for allegedly lying to investors about a #bribery scheme when raising capital for #renewables projects.
The pair have also been sued by the US Securities and Exchange Commission on similar allegations. Others allegedly involved in the renewables scheme were also criminally charged and sued by the SEC. Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani recently agreed to be served with the SEC’s civil complaint through their lawyers.
Adani Green and its parent company, the Adani Group, have denied wrongdoing, as has Gautam Adani.
Adani Green told investors in January that the company isn’t a party to the SEC’s civil proceedings, and it hasn’t been charged with any wrongdoing. Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani were not charged with bribery or corruption, it added.
