"#Fouchier was not alone in having his work black-marked. (...) #Kawaoka, virology professor at the Univ of Wisconsin-Madison, merged bird flu with the highly transmissible swine #flu virus, to make a hybrid strain that also spread among #ferrets" #NSABB https://t.co/0r7SS0Qbbu

Thrilled to see the new @WhiteHouse US Government Policy for Oversight of Dual Use Research and Enhanced Pandemic Potential Pathogens. Many of the recommendations shared by the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (#NSABB) of which I am a member of & Co-Chaired the Working Group to Review and Evaluate Potential Pandemic Pathogen Care and Oversight (P3CO) Policy have been incorporated. This policy and implementation guidance strengthens oversight of life sciences research with biological agents and toxins and helps keep the nation and the world at large, safer. This is a big win for global health security! https://t.co/rSGuNdciNU
