My daughter was added to the #Ontario #Autism Program in July 2017. Now in 2022, we're still waiting with no end in sight. #MoveTheWaitlist #50KisNotOK #onpoli #OAPnotForMe
CC @namshine no rush, but I'm in town near TVO every 3 weeks... I'd love to drag this topic on @TheAgenda
My son was added to the #Ontario #Autism Program in July 2018. Now in 2022, we’re still waiting with no end in sight. #MoveTheWaitlist #50KIsNotOk #onpoli
100% after two years we're all the second panel. The veneer is off. They LIED (and I got chucked from Queen's Park for calling them on it). #onpoli #OAPNotForMe #50KIsNotOk #qpmedia
To be clear @DrFullertonMPP: this doesn't solve what we shouted about in 2019 & doesn't shrink the waitlist one iota.
It's an offensive excuse of a response.

@seanostadz @OntAutism @AndreaHorwath @StevenDelDuca @fordnation That by "giving parents choice" have made more work for families, put more lives at risk with unregulated treatments & poured public tax dollars out into unproven therapies... AND grew the list.

Dismantling of the autism prog. was built on roundtable that did NOT address concerns of parents.
The panel that followed was rigged for the answers @fordnation wanted.
Vulnerable kids and families paid the price, and will now rack up exponential costs for years.
SLOW-ROASTED PIPE DREAM AND FOCUS ON THE 50K KIDS AND FAMILIES WHO NEED HELP NOW.
REPEATED TALKING POINTS THAT REST ON AN ADVISORY PANEL’S BASTARDIZED RECOMMENDATIONS DOES NOT BRING FAMILIES OUT OF CRISIS.
THE @fordnation GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE ASHAMED.
#autismdoesntendatford
The kids with ASD are NOT alright.
40,000 weren't at round tables in 2018/9.
45,000 weren't 2 years ago when it was dismantled in the name of "waitlists".
And now, just 600 may get to be part of a pilot program.

Hello @ToddSmithPC here is the Northern fact of the day: in some regions Autism families haven't access to any of the therapies their kids need. The new Core plan is going to leave them behind. What good are funds if you have nowhere to spend them? @fordnation #NowYouKnow #onpoli
A panel that many of us decried as #notMYpanel and #OAPnotforME.
So tired. I just can't care anymore because my kids chance for early intervention is gone.
They're in school now & not getting supports they should because 1. underfunding to spec. ed. programs and 2. COVID.😥😢🤯
In his response, @ToddSmithPC doesn’t answer the question at all, instead dragging the time by talking about work done 2 years ago by the Advisory Panel ... that he still hasn’t put into place.
3/9
1. Why do I have 2 names?
2. Why are you paying for 3 of SAME letter from SAME Ministry to SAME family?
3. HOW WASTEFUL, Minister @ToddSmithPC! Some of us are budgeting to the cent because of the OAP & MCCSS bullshit.
🤨😠😡🤬#OAPnotforME #DSOorNOgo #AutismDoesntEndAtFord #onpoli
I hate FB... and I think I'm done advocating until my personal life smoothes out.
2 years & no tangible changes to a program hurting kids life potential - so sad when proven clinical treatment is available.

Thank you for pointing this out, Louis! As a parent I was deeply concerned when I saw position of care coordinator outlined in the new documents.
I would encourage all those in policy circles to thoroughly flush out the vague language within that role description. #OAPnotforME
Kids with autism are screwed.
Understand Ontario:
I went from having NO fear at diagnosis, because full-time therapy was going to be covered, to NOW - trying to be an ABA professional myself.
I will never be "just their mom".

1/4 @ChildrenON @ToddSmithPC infrastructure needed for CORE services is EVAPORATING. This is happening RIGHT NOW. Providers are bleeding therapists b/c of the instability of your OAP mess. By the time CORE services are ready, there won't be anyone left to DO THEM. #onpoli
Well, no kidding.🤦♀️ COVID may stop the world, but it doesn't stop disabilities from being disabling - MORESO in times of service disruptions!
The autism program has an obvious fix - FRAMEWORK IS THERE. FUND IT!

Guess we can do this again February 18th, 2020 at noon?
See y'all then.
Because, why not TRY? #onpoli

It is shameful that mothers of children with #autism keep begging through tears for the Conservative government to listen to them. It was bad under the Liberals; and, it’s gotten worse under the Conservatives.
We have a "childhood budget".
We are NOT recieving services as prescribed.
NOT EVEN CLOSE.
$20K gets her 36% of the year, for HALF the hours she clinically needs.

Hey @ToddSmithPC
Just because 11,499 kids have a checked box beside their name doesn’t mean 11,499 are IN SERVICE.
There is zero guarantee that families receiving CB cheques are able to access therapy.
A Childhood Budget DOES NOT equal “IN SERVICE”. #AutismDoesntEndAtFord

Actually families need SERVICES now. Not just cheques that lead to more time in administrative hell when that's half our lives, anyway.
But if @OntarioPCParty is bent on forcing this budget policy, sure, AT LEAST pay the people.

Hey @ToddSmithPC! I just checked my mailbox today and guess what? Still no childhood budget letter from you. 21 months in and still nothing.
@JR_Ottawa You are bragging about highways but I'm still left waiting for funding to pay for therapy.
Families need funding now!

With regards to childhood budgets and giving cheques to parents, instead of services to kids:

Despite all talk on those ON gov't 1-888 numbers about funding being "backdated" to April 1st, we are only allowed to *spend* it starting the day we receive our "Authorization to spend" letter.
Another call of BS on @fordnation

I realize I have no way of proving the connection, but it seems my internal bleeding kicks up with OAP stress.
I'm really hoping today doesn't end with more time admitted at MET hosp. It's not good for my kids, the province's budget, NOR mine.
Less stress, PLEASE?#OAPnotforME
