It's been a while since we've taking you lot on an #ObjectWalk, so we're virtually re-visiting ThunderCat Tattoo Studio today, which we visited pre-lockdown. On our last visit, we took this epaulette with us - anyone want to guess why? π€

Who saw the gibbet from our #objectwalk earlier? Hereβs another image of it in situ at the museum π― did you know? The gibbet used to be the first thing youβd see upon entering the museum, as it was hung up in reception! Yikes! πΆ

The gibbet was a form of punishment often reserved for convicted highway robbers and murderers. The accused would be executed and their body displayed in the gibbet, often at city boundaries or on main roads. Gibbets were made to measure, and had holes for drainage π§#objectwalk

We're going to do something a little different for tomorrows #ObjectWalk...we're going behind the scenes on a digital #StoreTour! Tune in from 10am for some truly special sneak peeks! π·

We think today's #ObjectWalk was particularly interesting. If you did too, you can see the exhibition the toilet features in on our website! #ConstraintRestraint is available digitally thanks to our friends over at @V21Artspace - check it out here: https://t.co/PV3oscFLgI
This is a solitary confinement toilet. The use of solitary confinement became common practice in prisons during the first half of the 19th Century. Whilst the intention was that isolation would help reform inmates, many suffered awfully as a result of being alone. #ObjectWalk

We've got our weekly #ObjectWalk later today! At 1pm, We'll be looking at this object here. Does anyone have any idea what it is?

It's time for another #ObjectWalk! This time, we're sharing this beautiful portrait, which was carved by an imprisoned person from standard issue soap. πWe'll be using this object as the basis for our challenge with @64M_Artists later this week...more details to follow! π¨ποΈ

So what did you think to our #ObjectWalk earlier? Do you know of any stories that reference Belladonna? π #MysteriousMuseums
"I would be honest about where the car came from if I bought it. I think it shows that good things can come out of bad situations." Our visitors had lots to say about this little car when it went on an #ObjectWalkπ£ last year - what are your thoughts on it? Would you buy it? π€

Thank you to the wonderful Versus Arthritis support group in West Bridgford, for your insights into constraints and restraints. and how they're represented in our collection. πβοΈβοΈ

"Maybe I'm over-egging the pudding when I work. You see what people can do with no tools at all. There's so much power in that, just using what you've got. It's inspiring."β
