An upper fringer, once he has accepted his nature, may be tempted to think of the upper fringe as his tribe. But this is to internalize normie tribalism.
The upper fringe, excepting the worst of the Damaged, is a peer group. The only solidarity the upper fringe needs is peer morality, with all its glorious conditionality. And this can extend to High Functioning Normies to some extent. Perhaps even - on occasion, and in a limited fashion - to well programmed Regular Guys.
Normie identity - such as it is - is based entirely on commonality. Normies are incapable of full individuality. Typically their identity is based first on ethnicity, second on socioeconomic class, and finally on not being fringe.
Normie commonality is also their main proxy for merit. We all need heuristics sometimes, but a highly intelligent person needs them far less than one of limited intellect. Normie values are built around commonality as a proxy for virtue. Peer Morality is not.
A Peer recognizes another Peer by observing him. This obviously does not scale, so even Peers may need heuristics to find each other. But unlike a normie, a Peer uses these proxy traits only grudgingly. And he does not use at all the same proxies that normies use. He uses Fringe theory instead.
