Fringe Theory mode: Pseudo-Visionary
Can a lower fringer delude himself that he is an upper fringer? Even a Culture Hero? Yes, by projecting his self interest out onto the universe. This is grandiosity. It's what makes many charismatic religious leaders.
A (grandiose) narcissist of High Functioning Normie type can do the same, but will likely do less damage. Any charismatic personality with a God complex can found a radical religious movement that will fall apart with massive collateral damage. But after that point, the paths diverge.
(Elsewhere, I've characterized the HFN as "rational." I mean this only in the contextual sense. He's as rational as a normie can be. All normies are narcissists.)
After the collapse of his narcissistic supply, the normie narcissist will go into depression. There's a remote chance this will lead to self examination, then - ironically - a come to Jesus moment. More likely it will just take him out of action.
Or it could kick him into the lower fringe. This is the risk of cutting off a narcissist's supply. You can force him to change, but you can't determine the nature or direction of the change...
@___frye I've gotten a lot of good out of Stack Overflow. I have never once posted a question. I just go to a search engine, and get answers that just happen to come from that site.
It's a storage room.
Black people are the only race of people I know that are hated by everyone.
Every other race on Earth seems to hate African American people.
What that lets me know is that we possess something that is so intimidating, so threatening, that people want to harm us, belittle us, humiliate us, and try to strip away our joy, our lives, and our very being.
So I want every Black person to know how special you are.
Because no one can be hated this much unless they possess something that no one else ever will.
Theory: narcissism is a category of trauma responses to a sense of inadequacy combined with social embeddedness. I say category because the various narcissisms are very distinct aside from these two commonalities.
Grandiose narcissism is straightforward denial and overcompensation.
Vulnerable narcissism is an appeal to pity, cloaked in denial.
Wounded narcissism is a struggle for survival on the part of some other narcissism.
Malignant narcissism is a striking out by grandiose narcissism against a threat to its illusory self esteem.
We see all of these in Low Functioning Normies, because they need narcissisms to get by. LFNs really are inadequate.
