The first three #PrinciplesOfRobotics correct #AsimovsLaws with humans not robots responsible. In general the OECD #PrinciplesOfAI replicate & extennd the PoR, but the OECD (& EU) can’t talk about executive force, only states regulate that. (& military alliances eg NATO 2/3)
As I understand it, this is indefensible in policing, since the difference between war and non-war is that police can only kill if a life is in immediate danger, and a robot’s never can be. Cf the British #PrinciplesOfRobotics — the first of five. 1/2

Has anyone noticed that you have to click the "click to see page in archive" THREE TIMES (three different pages) to see the first national-level AI softlaw, the @epsrc/@ahrcpress #PrinciplesOfRobotics
https://t.co/9j089HnG5V
I mean, why archive at all? Just leave it on its URL?

Nice use of @RobWortham & @RecklessCoding & my work (& the @epsrc #principlesOfRobotics! & Turing!)

@anne_e_currie @PabloRedux @PKathrani @alan_winfield @JohnAFlood @David_Gunkel @EmergTechEthics @sd_marlow If we‘re transparent with our AI, both in making it clear how it works, and working hard to make it conspicuously not human, (since it isn‘t) so we don‘t trigger anthropomorphising and over identification. #transparency #aiethics #principlesofrobotics
This looks great! Direct link: https://t.co/HusYingmly #ai #ailaw #principlesOfRobotics #liability #aiethics #aigovernance
@j2bryson @LauraGalindo @j2bryson check this: https://t.co/eChPZ1hUEu. Look on the page for the "Report on liability for Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies prepared by the Expert Group on Liability and New Technologies – New Technologies Formation and published on 21 November 2019".
And how did I miss this — anthropomorphised #ai! APPS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. THEY ARE TENDRILS OF CORPORATIONS WHO MAY NOT PROTECT YOUR DATA. #AIEthics #principlesOfRobotics
(one colleague was @CjColclough representing global labour). Having said that, they are close enough to the UK's seminal (2011) #PrinciplesOfRobotics that I don't have to change my #aiethics slides much :-) Congratulaitons everyone! 2/2
Probably the @nytimes and certainly @etzioni ought to know better than this. AI itself is never responsible. The UK fixed Asimov's laws eight years ago. https://t.co/F2fkHHvnc3 #PrinciplesofRobotics Europe is so far ahead of the USA on this discourse it's not funny. #AIFINCoE
@j2bryson it seems that AI will inevitably come and control the human being as the invisible God of this century. Therefore, we need a sharp guideline/law to protect human rights and democracy.
This article is quite helpful:

Wow the snappily named "CEPEJ European Ethical Charter on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in judicial systems and their environment" has 5 principles remarkably congruent with the UK's #PrinciplesofRobotics
https://t.co/XFpNumzEON
presented at #AIFINCoE by George Stawa
@AngeloDalli @WorldSummitAI @johnchavens This is why the UK's #PrinciplesofRobotics advise against making robots appear humanlike. https://t.co/5dWpn6SGa9
@anne_e_currie Those aren't my principles I didn't coauthor, I think @IvanaBartoletti and @AllisonCGardner were the ringleaders but you can read the complete list in the doc. "My" principles were the world's first #aiethics nation-level softlaw https://t.co/F2fkHHvnc3 #PrinciplesOfRobotics
@David_Gunkel @EmergTechEthics @Becci1952 @aimeevanrobot @NoelSharkey @DuukBaten That seeming is why #AI requires #transparency as stated by the UK in the first nation-level #aiethics softlaw, the 2011 #PrinciplesOfRobotics #PoR https://t.co/3czOWq24D6
Bas Testerink at close of REINS (Jan Broersens' @ERC_Research):
NL police know #AI is important, urgency is there, but changing organisations is hard, so need to design systems to reduce needed org. change.
Congruent with #PrinciplesofRobotics 2

Clark #AIEthicsPU the fact that @openai software was in the stalking / assassin -like jogging drone is making them second think about #opensource of their code. [This is SUPER interesting to me, was also true of @epsrc #PrinciplesOfRobotics] #CyberSecurity #ai #trust #aiethics
