Pot meet kettle: @ConsumerWD Jamie Court @RaisingHellNow calling someone else a "shakedown artist." Pretty rich from a guy who pockets millions personally as the result of #Prop103 shakedown.
Regan allies call him an unapologetic champion for working people.
His critics see an increasingly isolated brawler whose risky wealth tax crusade extends a history of alienating foes and allies alike.

Cat modeling helps carriers prepare for potential natural disasters and their costs. CA is now allowing their use in ratemaking. If the state can get pricing right, consumers can end up with more ins. options. #california #wildfire #prop103

People like @tylerperry really don't understand this discussion. These were multi-million dollar homes that also served as tax safe havens because of #prop13.
In addition #prop103 that the homeowners supported capped what insurance companies could charge. https://t.co/36VsecSSP6

So many changes need to be made, literally, to

I hope Donald Trump and Elon Musk have time to talk about what changes need to be made, asap, and why nobody can implement #UnrealizedTaxGains

As a long term risk management and commercial insurance broker in CA, yes, it's a nightmare scenario, much of which can be blamed on archaic Prop 103. They created a scenario where insurance companies really were not allowed to properly underwrite risk... which is of course what insurance companies are supposed to do. Many if not most of the businesses I work with tell me that they would leave California if they could move the business and some have. Predictable and entirely avoidable situation. Now that the banking industry is pressuring the Department of Insurance and Newsom because they can't close loans, they are finally starting to take it seriously.
The markets will eventually start to open back up but that will come with massive rate hikes, that's already started. Due to prop 103, it's been almost impossible to get over a 6.9% rate increase approved in the past so instead of incremental increases over time, consumers are getting walloped all at once and that will get worse as more of the large increases go through. Of course the government is blaming every other factor other themselves on this one.
And rightly so: @ConsumerWD, as it admits, has zero consumer members, and pockets millions from a regulatory scheme it wrote for itself into #Prop103.
👀🌶️ The CA Dept of Insurance takes some spicy digs at Consumer Watchdog in a recent decision finding that it's eligible to intervene in rate filing proceedings & seek compensation: 🧵

@mikegatto Will be? It already is in many parts of the state, thanks to the nearly 4 decade old "reforms" of #Prop103 and self-interest of dark money-funded fake advocates @ConsumerWD.
Very proud of @consumerwatchdog & #Prop103 author Harvey Rosenfield. Harvey saved Californians’ billions.
California insurance commissioner @ICRicardoLara should hang his head in shame . #insurance https://t.co/FVVsAcJlO2
FACT: In 1988, @HarveRosenfeld wrote #Prop103, sneakily adding a little-noticed provision that has generated tens of millions for his own organization. 🖋💰 Now 35 years later, @ConsumerWD has secured over 90% of these “intervenor fees” for itself. https://t.co/ZQK9xdAdib
@AlejandroLazo It's not a "consumer group." It has zero consumer members. But it has stuffed $21 Million+ into its own pockets from #Prop103 as real consumers lose their insurance.
This self-appointed #darkmoney "watchdog" isn't interested in changing outdated #Prop103 mandates passed 30+ years ago. It's allowed them to pocket $21 million in fees and pay @carmenbalber @HarveRosenfield @RaisingHellNow $1M in compensation each year.
THIS!
“As insurers push big rate hikes and for consumers to pay all the costs of climate change, real solutions to the insurance crisis – like protecting our homes so they don’t burn down in the first place – aren’t even on the table.” @carmenbalber

Missed a few things paisan: like @HarveRosenfield @ConsumerWD raking in millions from #Prop103, which is causing the crisis. Their backing of @MarcLevine vs. @RicardoLara4CA because he's cracked down on the fake consumer group's "intervenor fees." Not exactly a credible source.
“It’s a time for courage. He’ll either step up — or he will fold.” @ConsumerWD
It's a make-or-break moment for California's insurance commissioner https://t.co/3L7zTJvHdX

Fascinating to see how a 1988 California ballot initiative (#Prop103) set the stage for the @StateFarm homeowners' pullout in the fire-prone state:
> Many of the restrictions on insurers originated with Proposition 103, a ballot measure California voters approved in 1988 amid soaring automobile insurance rates.
For property insurers, Prop 103 has made it almost impossible to set premiums based on computer models that project future risks including climate impacts, said Mark Sektnan, vice president for state government relations at the American Property Casualty Insurance Association. That’s because Prop 103 requires modeling used by insurers to be made public, which modeling companies want to avoid, Sektnan said.
Instead, insurers are setting rates based on their losses over the preceding 20 years.
“It’s a little bit like driving your car using the rearview mirror when your windshield is right there in front of you,” Sektnan said. <
Good article with Nancy Watkins of Milliman and me on the moves last week in the California insurance market. Key message from my perspective is that we need to act decisively to address this issue and avoid contagion and disorderly adjustment in the California RE market.
1/ In light of the discussions and on-chain disclosures around #Prop103 on the @CosmosHub, we wish to clarify our funding for @confio_tech
Among other things, Confio are the developers of CosmWasm, a library used by many chains in the interchain to enable smart contracts.

We decided to vote NO on both Proposal #103 & #104 on the Cosmos Hub.
Read this thread to understand our decision, from our message to @interchain_io, to a complaint about how broken the Cosmos Governance is.

Governance Proposal
• $ATOM #Prop103 - The proposal is seeking 95,697 #ATOMs from the Community Pool to fund @confio_tech
• $ATOM #Prop104 - The proposal is seeking 40k ATOMs distributed per year for 3 years, to fund @notionaldao
