Last night we managed to get my 5D Monster Masher working on my #Quantel HAL Express, now i have access to all the 5D and Sapphire plug-in effects for Quantel. The Masher itself is a Dual Pentium 2 WindowsNT 6U rack PC.
Finally after months of work by myself and others we have managed to restore this #Quantel HAL back to working. The Dylan disk array now running with 20 ZuluSCSI disk emulators too. Videos on the story coming soon

It's taken a few years to get to this point. Converting a #Quantel Dylan disk array to solid state so i can use my Quantel HAL. It _ONLY_ requires 20 SCSI disk emulators, 20 SD cards, 20 brackets... Etc π€£π«£. Hopefully a video coming soon too!

I have been working on this #Quantel HAL Express and of course the most complex card in it has a fault!! FFS!π΅βπ«πAt least i have an extender card so i can work on it! The symptom: One, many or all of the Altera FPGAs are failing programming, thankfully there's only 82 of them!!π€£
It's been six years since this #Quantel Digital Video Parallel Serial Converter was last in the lab, now back home it will enable me to convert between the two formats. The serial version you will know as SD-SDI, the parallel is the same protocol but over a 25 way parallel cable.

HD video is much older than you think! #Quantel were working on The Paintbox HD for the Eureka95 project way back in 1990. This is part of a schematic for the High Definition analog video output module dated a few years later in 1993.
