#Exactly ~ Welcome. To. Reality.
#Exactly … how I lost everything.
Not at all just memory - though both
retrograde and anterograde amnesia
were devastating beyond words.
#LifeAfterECT just doesn’t exist. ☠️

Absolutely LOVE my new "You don't get to be offended by science" T-shirt from @MommaDoctorJones! Couldn't have said it better myself. Neuropathology studies under a microscope simply don't lie. It's science! #AuditECT #RegulateECT
@Deedoherty2 @PsychicNeuron @PlanetJanice @HomegrownJoan @ProfRobHoward @jaunty_aphorism @BipolarBlogger @benzosarebad @deNutrients @metejtme If #psychiatry genuinely appreciated real #science, they'd demand ALL treatments pass phase 1 trials using modern parameters, intently teach/study neuropathology of each treatment to ameliorate risks, & estab admin technique method SOPs for #ECT. Who's anti science? #AuditECT
@Stuartw99132233 This is senseless on multiple levels, at least 3. I lack the words.

Thank you @emmafriedmann for highlighting immediate #PatientSafety concerns regarding #ECT. Negligence in adequately explaining risks makes #informedconsent impossible. Int'l petition aims to #AuditECT #RegulateECT & provide help to injured ppatients.Sign https://t.co/gnY27odVtB
@IMMDSReview It's not just medicines, medical devices and products that cause #PrescribedHarm, it's therapies too.
#ECT is inhumane and #InformedConsent appears to be very rare.
Therapies need to be regulated in the interest of #PatientSafety.
#IMMDS #FACSaware
I demand we #AuditECT & #regulateECT. In US, hospitals reimbursed an avg $3200/10 minute #ECT proceedure. Sharp Mesa Vista did 4055 treatments receiving $13.9M in 2017. Risks of exploiting vulnerable Pts must be mitigated. Sign here https://t.co/gnY27odVtB @Mad_In_America
@agirlwakingup Severely depressive?? Reduced capacity, functionality, quality of life?

When #ECT gets banned, psychiatry will bemoan having never chosen the responsible #PatientSafety choice to simply establish SOPs & routinely #AuditECT #RegulateECT. 450 volts is never safe -- even it it's regulated.
Did u know #ECT temporarily halts brain activity & causes brief coma? Me Neither. It isn't listed in the #InformedConsent papers. Comas are caused by #BrainInjury. When neurologists asks if I've ever been in a coma, "Yes. 116 times." https://t.co/JROPJVfxWy #RegulateECT #AuditECT
Why STRICT do we need regulations for #ECT's admin technique/follow-up? It NEVER had safety testing b4 #FDAapproved. PEOPLE DIE! @mnhealth
absolves demanding responsibility for death due to #COVID19! #Ethics https://t.co/JWuWY19Em0
@duluthnews @GlennBeck #AuditECT #RegulateECT
@DisbldUrbanFarm @slooterman @lisa63artist Currently there are ZERO regulations in place for #ECT. It was never even safety tested using modern machines. FDA provides ZERO guidance in dosing/admin technique. Please help us change that by signing my #PatientSafety petition https://t.co/dohXyh68yB #AuditECT #RegulateECT
One reason #ECT outcome dichotomy is so vast: >7 variables involved in it's unstandarized use currently unregulated. Pls help us petition to standardize dosing protocols to prioritize #patientsafety. Sign

Tweet illustrates precisely why we must have a 3rd party #AuditECT & #RegulateECT to ensure #PatientSafety & #InformedConsent. Pls help by signing our int'l petition here https://t.co/gnY27odVtB #ECT @Jrnl_ECT @APAPsychiatric @CPA_APC @rcpsych @Mad_In_America @GingerBreggin

I refused #ECT but my MD wanted to discuss my choice & "the only place to talk" happened to be on the ECT gurney. Whereupon I was injected w/ something & restrained, as they put the pen in my hand telling me to sign the #consent form
@ReginaP81554104 @DrSarahJarvis Yes, that's what I thought too, which is why I trusted my doctors until I developed iatrogenic brain injury from untested, unstandarized medical treatment (#ECT) that's been used since the 40's. https://t.co/gnY27odVtB #AuditECT #RegulateECT
@sully272 @ReadReadj According to APA & Somatics, LLC: more #ECT treatments = higher risk of permanent #BrainDamage & closer "acute course" treatments creates + risk permanent #braindamage. Help #RegulateECT. Sign here https://t.co/JWuWY19Em0 #braininjuryawareness #AuditECT https://t.co/HM87vlEfAQ
@sully272 @ReadReadj Psychiatry doesn't pay attention to it's own #ECT research. ECT manufacturer cites APA in listing 7 risks of permanent #braindamage, but psychiatry operates under the premise that when something doesn't work, it should be used until it does!
https://t.co/FS5iqmitSL #auditECT
Modern psychiatry now distances themselves from "neurotransmitter imbalance"vcausing psychiatric Sx debunked myth. Why prescribe things to induce "chemical imbalance." But Finally psychiatrist posts about #ECT's structural changes. #RegulateECT #AuditECT #braininjury
@Georgeberger @Foreman1David @ReadReadj ECT shows neuroplastic, neurotransmitter and structural changes.
Hmmm...I'm genuinely curious about this new assessment "ElectroConvulsive therapy Cognitive Assessment (#ECCA) tool." Too bad #ECT isn't regulated or standardized to ensure every patient gets #braininjury assessment. #RegulateECT #AuditECT https://t.co/oCthN2U9e7 #AuditECT
@NickWebb30 @benzosarebad @KellyMartin02 @ReadReadj @RichardBentall I'm genuinely curious about the 12% permanent memory loss statistic. I wonder which article has it. I saw one that said 2%, but that only applies to patients who get it 38.6 days apart they said it cannot be applied to a larger null who get treatment more frequently. #RegulateECT
@benzosarebad @jill_d35 @Simonro40611952 @harrietKay5 @KellyMartin02 @Tracey11Higgins @kristina_ademi @psychetrick @psychotic_18 @ProfRobHoward @Angela_Mc_G 2 #ECT patients discuss both sides of ECT debate. One patient considers his treatment a success, the other considers her treatment a failure. Both patients touch on the lack of #InformedConsent & delayed #Electricalinjury symptoms. #RegulateECT #AuditECT https://t.co/w2hyxziOGe
I wonder whether psychiatry understands definition of "Safe" aka WITHOUT risk. #ECT carries 7 independent risks of permanent #braindamage/#MemoryLoss listed in #MedicalDevice user manual, citing @APAPsychiatric. I met 5:7 risks & live w/ chronic bleeding in pons. #RegulateECT
#ECT (electro convulsive therapy) remains an important, effective and generally safe option in treating #depression; mainly for severe depression and once other options are exhausted (although also given for maintenance and relapse prevention)
